The London Borough of Newham is in East London.
From a small Roman town to one of the most vibrant and multicultural boroughs in England, the area has a long and rich history.
Newham represents what is thought of as the traditional East-End: within the sound of Bow bells, the home of pie and mash, and once the stomping ground of the infamous Kray twins and their gang.
Newham is now famous for scoring a major goal; its bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. An 80,000-seat Olympic stadium and world class facilities for various sporting events are being built here, and 60% of the 2012 games are taking place in Newham.
