Chiswick Pier
Along the Thames Path from Hammersmith is Chiswick pier, and here it is possible to follow the route of the old Church Street causeway onto the foreshore at low tide. Just a short distance from the causeway is Hogarth's tomb, and further east is Chiswick Eyot (pronounced "eight"), an island in the Thames where the many willows were once harvested for weaving and cattle fodder.
It is a good spot for watching the many water birds found on the Thames, from ducks to cormorants, as they feed along the shore. Popular with rowers, it is on the route of the famous University Boat Race.
